Vanya Cullen
Chief Winemaker and Managing Director – Cullen Wines
Australia
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
She was appointed to Chief Winemaker in 1989 and Managing Director in 1999. During that time she has been rigorously experimenting in the vineyard (especially with soil and trellis management) and in the winery all the while looking to give her wines greater complexity. Her palate has been honed by judging throughout Australia and overseas, and by her continuous pursuit of a thorough knowledge of the wines of the world. “Winemaking is now in the hands of Vanya Cullen, daughter of the founders; she is possessed of an extraordinarily good palate. It is impossible to single out any particular wine from the top echelon; all are superb.” – James Halliday Over the past decade, Vanya has transformed her family firm from one of Margaret River’s best into one of the country’s premium boutique wineries. Cullen Wines while remaining family owned has since evolved making quality wine from a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Negative and naturally powered estate. Exemplary viticulture lies at the heart of her success but so, too, do care and thorough attention to detail in the winery. “At the very top of the quality and ethical tree you might drink wine from the biodynamically certified vineyards of Cullen from Margaret River” – Tim White Vanya Cullen was the winner of the 2000 Qantas/The Wine Magazine Winemaker of the year. She was the third recipient of this prize, the first Western Australian and the first woman to win the award. Vanya has judged at wine shows in every major city in Australia. In 2008, she was awarded the UK Drinks Business Magazine “Woman of the Year 2008” and in 2011 the “Green Personality of the Year” for her commitment to the wine industry and for demonstrating that you can operate a successful business while looking after the environment. In 2015 Vanya was inducted into the Australian Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame which honours and celebrates Australian female business owners who have been exemplary in their industries, are trailblazers and demonstrate inspiring and aspiring business journeys. In 2019 Vanya was named the Australian Women in Wine Winemaker of the Year, received the ACO Chairman’s Award for her contribution towards organics in Australia, and in Halliday’s Wine Companion she was awarded for the best wine in the Cabernet and Family category with the 2017 Diana Madeline, as well as being named Halliday’s Winemaker of the Year; Australia’s most prestigious wine award. 2018 marked Vanya’s 35th year of winemaking at Cullen Wines, and 2019 was Vanya’s 30th anniversary of becoming Chief Winemaker at Cullen Wines.

Christelle Chene Born in Burgundy, I have studied Chinese and International Business Management at University in France. After 1 year exchange program in China, I knew I wanted to set up in this beautiful, fascinating and fast developing country, and the first job opportunity that brought me back to China over 10 years ago also brought me into the wine business, that I have of course never left since then. After 8 years working for different French wine companies as Greater China, then Asia Director and Brand Ambassador, I finally gave up my exciting city life in 2019 to move to China’s far Northwest region, Ningxia. Brand The Change: a call to action to use brands as a force for social and environmental change
Anne Miltenburg
The Brandling
Kenya
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
In 2013, brand developer Anne Miltenburg (1981, The Netherlands) got increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress on social and environmental issues in the world. There were plenty of people out there working to create change, but the ideas were not adopted quick enough, or at the right scale. Could branding have something to do with it? As a result, Anne quit her job as a creative director at Interbrand to find out how to use her brand expertise to advance ideas, products and services for social and environmental justice. After a year of research, speaking to purpose driven entrepreneurs, activists, intrapreneurs and NGOs across the world, she realised it was the lack of knowledge on how to build stronger brands that was holding people back. Anne made it her personal mission to create and curate the world’s best brand building knowledge and put it in the hands of those who will use it for good. The result: in 2014, Anne founded The Brandling, an education company that trains purpose driven entrepreneurs to build stronger brands. The Brandling produces tools, research and trainings, and hosts a community of hundreds of brand builders from across the world, who share knowledge and experience in the pursuit of a better world. Her Brand Thinking Canvas has become the go-to model for brand builders across sectors, and her book, Brand The Change, is in its third edition, and has been translated to Arabic and Korean. To date, her tools and learning experiences are used by over 10,000 people worldwide. Her writing is featured in Stanford Social Innovation Review, Skoll, Forbes. Anne has lived and worked in over 12 countries and currently calls Nairobi, Kenya, the heart of social innovation and tech for good, her home.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
Aron Weinkauf As both vineyard manager and winemaker, Aron Weinkauf carries on a rich tradition at Spottswoode of embracing an interconnected view of winemaking that has deep roots in the vineyard. In his dual role, Aron works alongside the winery’s in-house vineyard team, guiding the farming of the estate’s 24 individual blocks. In the winery, he applies his talents to as many as 20 small fermentations each vintage, just to make Spottswoode’s two acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignons. Aron also performs dozens of additional fermentations for the winery’s Sauvignon Blanc, Estate “Mary’s Block” Sauvignon Blanc and Field Book Syrah. In addition to being the steward of Spottswoode’s legendary vineyard, Aron ensures that each wine authentically reflects its vintage and vineyards, and that it is true to the elegant, energetic and age-worthy style for which Spottswoode has been recognized since 1982.
Molly was born and raised in Victoria, Australia and has been surrounded by wine for most of her life. She attended Curtin University in Western Australia, completing a degree in Agribusiness, Viticulture and Enology. After working in wineries in Victoria, Margaret River and the Yarra Valley, Molly made her first trip to Napa Valley as in intern for the 2017 vintage and fell in love with the beauty and dynamic nature if Napa Valley and its wines. She returned in 2018 and joined the Spottswoode winemaking team as a harvest intern, becoming part of the team full time as Educational Winemaker shortly thereafter. In the unique, hybrid role, Molly combines her passion for winemaking and communications by helping craft the wines in both the vineyard and the cellar, and by connection with out customers in the domestic and international markets to share with the world how unique both the wines and the spirit of Spottswoode are. While not at the winery, Molly enjoys spending time doing anything that gets her outside – hiking, running and yoga are some of her favorite past times.

Digital Transformation in the Alcohol Beverage Industry
Keith Hontz
Chief Executive Officer & President – Savantis
United States
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
The only constant in the wines and spirits industry is change. Deregulation of the three-tier environment at both the federal and state levels combined with an industry CAGR of 5%, means the stakes are high for enterprises that can take advantage of new opportunities that will re-shape the industry. The increasing power of the digitally connected consumer is forcing proliferation of brands in categories and segments while mandating home delivery models that producers, distributors, and retailers alike are ill suited to fulfill. Enter the digital disrupters. Mr. Hontz understands the Alcohol Beverage Industry business drivers and objectives, and the digital technologies that will be at the core of tomorrow’s leaders. If it’s a control state or open market, on- or off-premise, route-to-market, path-to-purchase, intelligent digital commerce, supply chain, last-mile or market enablement, we can help reinvent your alcohol beverage business for the new economy.
